Amazingly High Rez photos of the sinking of an old carrier to make a reef!

The Oriskany, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, was sunk 24 miles off the coast of Pensacola, Fla., on May 17 to form an artificial reef. The sinking of the 888-foot ship took 37 minutes. NICE photos.

Creating artificial reefs is good as it provides a large flat surface where the organisms can attach and grow. It also provides a safe place for the fishes to breed and grow a colony.
